Join us for the 15th Annual Tenderfoot Mountain Duathlon and Triathlon! This is a smaller, friendly event geared towards both recreational and competitive athletes. Two or three member triathlon teams are strongly encouraged to enter. Not a swimmer? Compete in the duathlon, which consists of the bike and then the run portion of the triathlon course. | Course description: |
The Course:
Swim: 1000 meters - Twenty laps in the Salida Hot Springs Pool. Water temperature on race day will be 80-82 degrees.
Bike: 40K (25 miles) - Two loops on county roads and state highways. Road bikes are recommended.
Run: 10K (6.2 miles) - Out-and-back along trail system, paved and dirt roads; hilly.
Note: Duathlon course consists of the bike and then the run portion of the triathlon.

| Awards info: |
Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers overall in both the duathlon and triathlon. Awards will be presented three deep in each age group for the triathlon and two deep in each age group for the duathlon. Team awards will go to the top male, female and co-ed teams. |

Be a Triathlon Team! Two or thee member teams are welcome and encouraged to participate in the triathlon. Being part of a team is a great way to take part in our fun and challenging race.
All participants receive a gender specific t-shirt, race bag and lunch. Participants are also welcome to lap swim free of charge on Friday night, August 31 and will be given a half-off coupon to the Aquatic Center to be used at a later date.
The Tenderfoot Mountain Triathlon is open participants ages 15 and up; those 14 and under can check out the Tenderfoot Mountain Kids Triathlon scheduled for Sunday September 2, 2012.
Salida Labor Day Weekend Events
The triathlon is not the only fun event happening in Salida over Labor Day weekend! Check out the following events, sponsored by the Salida Chamber of Commerce and the City of Salida.
Saturday, September 1 - Salida Mountain Wine Festival in Riverside Park
Nine wineries (2 local) will present their very best wines to an anticipated 500 wine lovers from around Colorado. Riverside Park will be decked out for a relaxing late summer day for entrants to stroll through the Park and enjoy live music, yummy morsels from local caterers and restaurants and one of a kind works of art from local galleries. Once you have picked your favorite wine, you can purchase it by the glass or un-opened bottle. For more information, please contact the Salida Chamber of Commerce at 719-539-2068.
Sunday, September 2 - Music and Fireworks at Riverside Park
The City of Salida postponed their 4th of July fireworks display due to high fire danger. This event has been re-scheduled for Labor Day weekend and is FREE and open to everyone! There will be free music in Riverside Park from 4 - 8pm at the band shell; fireworks will begin at 8pm. One dollar hot dogs and soft drinks will be sold from 4 - 8pm. Bring the whole family down with some blankets or lawn chairs to celebrate after the kids' triathlon! |

| Packet pickup: |
Packet pickup is at the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center on Friday, August 31 from 6:00-8:00pm and Saturday, Sept 1st from 6:00-6:30am. All participants are also urged to attend one of the pre-race meetings at the pool. Pre-race meetings are on Friday night at 7:30 and Saturday morning at 6:30. |
